๐ Get My Exact Free Quote โYour subsidy (officially a "Premium Tax Credit") is based on your income relative to the Federal Poverty Level, your household size, and the benchmark Silver plan cost in your area.
We calculate your income as a % of the 2026 FPL for your household size. This determines how much you're expected to contribute toward your premium.
Your required contribution is capped at a % of your income. At 150% FPL it's 0%. At 400%+ FPL it's capped at 8.5% under enhanced subsidy rules.
Your subsidy equals the benchmark Silver premium minus your required contribution. If Silver costs $450/mo and your cap is $100, you get a $350/mo tax credit.
Your subsidy stays the same regardless of which plan you pick. Use it on Bronze to pay less, or apply it to Gold for richer benefits.
Your FPL percentage determines subsidy amounts and Medicaid eligibility:
| Household Size | 100% FPL | 138% FPL (Medicaid) | 150% FPL ($0 premium) | 400% FPL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | $15,060 | $20,783 | $22,590 | $60,240 |
| 2 people | $20,440 | $28,207 | $30,660 | $81,760 |
| 3 people | $25,820 | $35,632 | $38,730 | $103,280 |
| 4 people | $31,200 | $43,056 | $46,800 | $124,800 |
| 5 people | $36,580 | $50,480 | $54,870 | $146,320 |
| 6 people | $41,960 | $57,905 | $62,940 | $167,840 |

Yes. Self-employed individuals use net profit after business deductions as their income for subsidy purposes. This often means higher subsidies than W-2 employees at the same gross income.
CSR estimates are reflected in the Silver plan deductible shown. Households at 100โ250% FPL who choose Silver plans receive enhanced CSR benefits โ deductibles as low as $300 and reduced co-pays.
Bronze: you pay ~40% of costs after deductible. Silver: ~30%. Gold: ~20%. Platinum: ~10%. Higher tiers cost more monthly but much less when you actually use healthcare.
